My philosophy

My approach to training and development 
Given the demands that most organisations face currently, (increased workload with decreased resources; human, financial and time) it is often challenging for staff to take time out of the workplace to attend training. Because of this, training needs to be effective, focused and practical.  For this reason my seminars and workshops are practical, solution focused and action oriented.  
At the end of every session, each participant leaves with a simple, individual action plan to integrate new skills into their work practice, implement solutions to their challenges or change their behaviour. 

I  facilitate using adult learning principles: I respect the knowledge, experience and wisdom each participant brings, build on what participant’s already know and use activities, small group and large group discussion, interactive presentation and individual reflection, respecting the different learning styles of participants.
Behaviour change and skill development occurs with both direction and support.  Ideally, an hour follow up session with the whole group, two weeks after the initial workshop, is recommended. At this follow up session, participants will report back to me on their progress with integrating the new skills, tips and ideas into their work practice and on-the-job challenges discussed and ways to address, arrived at.  Personal reflection, developing new mindsets, taking action and verbalising progress, all create new neurological pathways and so new behaviours become integrated into every day work practice. (Individual coaching programs can also support integration of new skills and behaviours into work practice)

My approach to One-on-One Coaching
I believe the power of one-on-one coaching is having someone who will 
• listen to you, mindfully,  and ask great questions that will lead you to the next actions that you need to take
• provide alternative possibilities, solutions and viewpoints that you may not have thought of
• support, encourage and inspire you to take action
and in each coaching session I have an intention to achieve this.  

I hold a belief in your capacity to change; through coaching you discover your unique combination of strengths, skills and values, and grow and develop in-line with your heart’s desires and/or focus for work. I use a solution focussed, action oriented approach to coaching. This means I focus, not on analysing problems, but on supporting you to find solutions and actions to move you towards what you want to create. 

Coaching with me is light, joyful, revealing, inspiring and affirming…. you will leave the session feeling fantastic, with a plan and the confidence to make changes in your work and/or your life.  I use both left brain (logical) and right brain (creative) approaches and use both my ability to analyse situations and my intuition, when working with you.   

The coaching process is fundamentally a conversation where I ask you questions so that you:
• gain clarity about what you really want and don’t want 
• decide how you are going to get there,      
• learn more about yourself 
• come up with alternatives or solutions 
• are empowered to take action
• are accountable to you 

After each session, you will have things to do,  (actions you decide and actions I set) and also we will talk about the mindsets that will support your actions. At the next session, you will report on those actions, and the results and outcomes.
